“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” Revelations 14:13

Words cannot explain the pain I felt when I heard the unfortunate news that my friend and sister had passed away.

I got to know Mrs. Victoria Akuah Adade through Mr. Samuel Kweku Adade, her husband, who was my neighbour at Ashale Botwe in Accra, Ghana.  He thought I could be a good friend to her wife after realising that I was the only woman in the neighbourhood.

When we came together as friends, I found out that she was a devoted Christian and also exhibited love (Agape) in her.  She quickly became my mentor. She was happy to introduce me to her Siblings, Children and grandchildren.

She was always there to give me good advice, her advice enabled me to educate my four children and now I am proud to say that two of them are Medical Doctors and the other two are Professors at Universities in the United States.  She is the only friend I have on this earth.

Sister, who will I get advice from? I did not hear from you that you will soon leave this earth. I thought you will be discharged from the Hospital so that we continue our Morning Devotion together.

Your husband and my husband left this world in the same year in 2013.  Sister, you are also gone, what am I going to do now? Hmmmmmm.

I will abide by what you told, “Not to forget your Siblings and your Children”.  As I am preparing to go back to Ghana, can I be there alone? Or should I continue to be in the United States? Because it is going to be hard for me to be in the neighbourhood by myself without you. I will really miss you.

Though I feel saddened that Sister you are gone, I am consoled by the fact that you are now at Peace with our Maker and resting in the Sanctuary of God.

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that “…to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”.

You were always a positive person and special to me. You will be greatly missed.

Sleep well and Rest in Perfect Peace.
