Mrs. Victoria Adade. Ms. Akuah, as we call her. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Daniel Simpson Hammond. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunty. She was the cotton tree of the family. The one that knows all the secrets of the family. On 14/01/2022, I was so devastated to learn of her passing. Shocked, I could hardly believe it, I thought I was dreaming.

For the past few months my twin sister and I were having regular conference calls with her for hours, not knowing she was saying her last goodbyes. She taught us so many life lessons, discussing how to take care of ourselves and our families. I remember the good old days. When she visited us for our birthday celebration we had lots of fun.  I remember going to her farm in Ghana, sitting around watching the chickens while eating and dancing. The last time we met in person was in Freetown for the baptismal ceremony for Samuel David and Naa-Sika. We were singing and dancing, little did I know that was the last time we would be together. This past Christmas, while she was admitted in the hospital, she was so excited, so bubbly, reassuring us that she was doing fine, and she would be out by New Years. Unfortunately the holidays passed and she was still admitted in a declining state. However on New Year’s Day she sent me audios that she is doing well and that she would be home soon, so we should enjoy ourselves and have fun. I never knew that would be our last conversation. Now that she’s gone, I cherish all the moments we shared. We love her so much, but God loves her more. Death wears a hood just as sisters do and it can never be removed. A little bit of my sister will always live within me.  Rest In Peace big sister, you’ve given me all I need. I hope you are at peace just like you always make me feel. Take a rest, until we meet again.

Your Loving sister
